The Lorelei Social Impact Project-Comfort in the Chaos is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing education, awareness, and dialogue around medication safety, polypharmacy, and deprescribing through evidence-informed, patient-centered learning. Our work bridges lived experience with practical education to support safer prescribing, improved communication, and better outcomes for patients navigating complex medication regimens. We offer educational webinars and learning sessions specifically designed for healthcare professionals, including physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, behavioral health providers, and interdisciplinary care teams. These webinars focus on deprescribing awareness, risk recognition, and shared decision-making—particularly in patients with long-term medication use, psychiatric polypharmacy, chronic illness, neurodivergence, and complex care needs. Our deprescribing webinars emphasize real-world challenges clinicians face, such as fragmented care, limited appointment time, patient fear, withdrawal risks, and gaps in formal training around tapering and medication discontinuation. We provide clear, respectful education that supports clinicians in recognizing when medications may no longer serve the patient’s best interest and how to approach conversations about reduction or discontinuation safely and ethically. Unlike traditional continuing education, our programs incorporate patient and caregiver perspectives to highlight how prescribing decisions are experienced over time. This perspective helps clinicians better understand issues such as adverse effects, cumulative medication burden, loss of function, and the emotional and psychological impact of long-term medication exposure. The goal is not blame, but insight, collaboration, and improved care. Topics addressed in our webinars include deprescribing principles, polypharmacy risk awareness, medication interaction recognition, informed consent, trauma-informed communication, and patient self-advocacy as a clinical asset rather than a barrier. Sessions are designed to complement existing clinical knowledge while filling critical gaps often left unaddressed in formal medical training.
