About Dr. Jose A. Rios, MD

Dr. Rios initially began his professional career as a mechanical engineer for Cordis corporation here in Miami after graduating from the Georgia Institute of Technology. His work involved projects related to neurosurgical devices. After several months, he realized he was enjoying the medical aspects of his projects more than the engineering ones. Subsequently he went on to medical school at the University of Miami, graduating in 1986. Then he went on to do his internal medicine internship and residency at the Mount Sinai medical center here on Miami Beach. It was during the time that he became good friends with Dr. Steven Schnur, and eventually became partners in the early 1990s after being in private practice on their own. He is the father of three teenagers with all its joys and challenges! He also leads a group of high school students at his church's youth ministry, who keep him on his spiritual toes at all times! He is an avid reader, and especially loves to study the Bible.
